About Us

Mission:

To provide quality, individual, interdisciplinary, evidence-based therapy across the lifespan and environments, while being good stewards of resources in a family centered environment.




History:

Adaptive Therapies opened its doors in 2020. Being therapist owned and operated, patient care is our primary focus. We excel in providing a whole person approach and comprehensive functional care that prepares each individual for the most independent journey through the lifespan. We maintain open communication with other practitioners, including but not limited to physicians, school therapists, orthotists, and psychologists.


Meet Our Team

Adaptive Therapies team members support our community by sitting on boards and volunteering for the advancement of accessibility in San Juan County. We have partnered closely with the Tibbetts All Ability Park Foundation and the City of Farmington to provide consultations and support for the All Abilities Park.

Kathleen Ashley Harper, PT, DPT

Kathleen (Katie) graduated from UNM in 2014 with her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has 8 years of experience in a variety of pediatric settings. She obtained her Board Certification in Pediatric Physical Therapy in 2018. She is the Board President of the Tibbetts All Ability Park Foundation, which is focused on fundraising and consulting to improve accessibility in the greater San Juan County area.She is a native of Farmington and loves her community. She loves to read, sing, act and create. Katie, her husband Clay and their dogs Hunter and Cooper enjoy outdoor experiences such as gardening, camping, hiking, and rock climbing.



Amanda Morrison-Thrower, OTR/L

Amanda graduated from UNM in 2001 and has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of pediatric and adult settings (DD Waiver, Home Health, Acute, Pediatric and Adult outpatient, inpatient rehab hospital, skilled nursing facility, upper extremity rehab). Amanda enjoys working with sensory, self-regulation, psychosocial health, littles, middles, teens and adults.  Her goal is to increase peoples’ ability to engage in any task they want to be able to do or return to doing.  Amanda is the secretary of the Tibbetts All Ability Park Foundation, which is focused on fundraising and consulting to improve accessibility in the greater San Juan County area.Amanda is a native of Farmington and is invested in her community.  She is an avid reader, skier, biker (pedal and adventure moto), loves water sports and is working on furthering her scuba skills. She also enjoys baking pies, cookies, breads, and macaroni & cheese.  Her family requests her key lime pie most often.

Kelsey Waller,

Kelsey grew up in Farmington, NM. She attended UNM and received her BS in Exercise Science and also a PTA degree here locally at San Juan College in 2018. She started her physical therapy career in 2015 as a tech and has 5 years PTA experience in Orthopedics and sports rehab. In her spare time with her husband and son she loves to hike, kayak, fish and play outside. She loves to spend time outside gardening and with her many goats, chickens, dogs, a cat and plans to add more to her little farm.

Haleigh Allen

Haleigh graduated in 2023 from the San Juan College PTA program. She has experience in outpatient orthopedics and pediatrics. She enjoys all things soccer and being outside. Her favorite part of her job is getting to see kiddos make progress towards goals. :)

Marissa Lowman

Marissa is a life-long resident of Aztec, NM. She graduated from San Juan College in December of 2023 as a Physical Therapist Assistant. She loves the challenge of working with kids and the energy they bring to their appointments. When not at work, she spends most of her time supporting her own kids in all their extracurricular activities. Being at home, grilling some grub, while her kids jump on their trampoline describes a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Shannon Dorsett,

Shannon is not only the best toy finder in all the land, but the best COTA Adaptive Therapies could ask for. She graduate in 2017 from San Juan College with her degree and has a myriad of both adult and pediatric experience. She finds passion and joy in providing pediatric occupational therapy treatment and is a wonderful asset to her patients’ team.

When not at work she enjoys spending time outdoors camping, hiking, etc. with her family. When not with them she loves to craft.

Rachel Crone,

Rachel was raised in Aztec NM and attended Fort Lewis in Durango CO.  After working for years in finance in the Pacific NW, she knew she wanted to pursue her passion of helping others in the world of occupational therapy.  Rachel returned to NM and graduated in 2022 from San Juan College with her COTA degree.  She has experience in both pediatric and acute settings but loves working with kids and teens.When not at work she enjoys being outside and spending time with friends and family.  Her favorite activities are downhill skiing, mountain biking, and roller skating.

Shanna Zurface,

Shanna graduated in May 2022. She is a native of Farmington, NM.  She began her career at Adaptive Therapies and enjoys working with all patients. She loves to find fun projects to share with her patients. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family. They enjoy camping, playing games (dice, cards) together and fishing. Shanna has a love of animals and enjoys playing with her dogs, cats, chickens, and an African Grey that has a mind of her own and keeps everyone entertained.

Russ has lived in the area his whole life graduating in 2022 from San Juan College OTA program. He has experience in adult in-patient rehab and outpatient pediatrics which has been the majority of his career. In his spare time he enjoys working on cars, spending time with his family and going to the movies.

Bobbie Steerman
Office Manager





Bobbie is the heartbeat of this office. When she is not billing, or working with insurance companies for authorization, she is keeping us on our toes and our schedules full. She’s one of the most integral parts of Adaptive Therapies mission in supporting children of this community. Her fun nature and laughter can be heard filling these halls, and she brings so much joy to our team. We don’t know what we would do with out her.

When she is not keeping us in line, she enjoys camping with her husband and two dogs.
